The days that follow the first dose

I feel like I have the flu & a stomach bug mixed together. My face is on fire, I'm tired & food is not appealing at all The one anti nausea medicine makes me sick so when they called to check on me yesterday she said stop taking it & try the other one. It's really weird one minute I'll be fine than the next I'll be violently sick & break out in a cold sweat. So not liking it!!!Ugghhhhhh my butt & back hurt from sitting so long. The nurse said I was a real trooper for my first time!! So I go back on the 24th @ 10:30 for just Gemzar it's just about 2 hours for that one & it burns my hand going in?? I have a nice bruise on my right hand & it hurts to touch! Trying different things to eat & keep down. Tried a soft boiled egg & toast this morning blech......... too slimy but Harley enjoyed it!! I'm doing OK with grape Gatorade, weak tea, water, hot coco, graham crackers & saltines. Photobucket

My heart goes out to you. Talking about it is good therapy so keep on talking about it. Have you tried just toast, perhaps without butter or margarine, and maybe scrambled eggs would be more palatable. Like the nurse said you are a trooper and don't you forget it - think about that light at the end of the tunnel.
HUGS to you my friend.

Hang in there. Don't worry about "eating healthy" right now, if cake is palatable, then eat cake. Do what it takes to make it through! Peace be with you

You poor thing! As above, dry toast usually (at least) makes your tummy feel a little full though it does taste pretty bland. Tried and true - very, very cold 12oz of Gatorade with an ADDITIONAL 3 tesp of sugar stirred in. Sip slowly from a spoon. I know it sounds bizarre but it is the one thing I know that will totally quiet an upset tummy and my doctor is the one who told me about it.

You are indeed a trooper, but I am sorry that you are having such a tough time. I have heard from fiends that vegetable soup goes down well with the chemo feelings. Do they think the future doses will be easier?

I'm keeping you in my prayers and hope that you feel better soon.

Hey, look at it this way - you might have good timing with all the marijuana laws changing. You could become a stoner and switch from quilting to tie-dye??? ;)

In all seriousness, wish I was there to trek you to your appointments!! Would be nice if my only having to show up at the office twice a week came in handy for someone other than just me. Hang in there!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you! I walked this path with my Mama. She would not want to eat but we did mange to find a few things she could handle. Also did the Glucerna (sp?) drinks. She was diabetic also so was a struggle taking the chemo. If I was close would help too! Hugs!
