Looks like trouble!! Hope all stay safe!!

5 a.m. update: Irene expected to stay off coast of Southeastern North Carolina
Hurricane Irene strengthened overnight and is expected to become a major hurricane Wednesday, according to the 5 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center.

The current projected path shows the eye staying off the coast of Southeastern North Carolina, but hurricane force winds could brush the coast on Saturday.

A hurricane warning is in effect for Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas.

At 5 a.m., Irene was moving west-northwest near 9 mph. A gradual turn toward the northwest is expected Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph and Irene is a Category 2 storm.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 40 miles.

Stay safe! I was happy to see it curve away from Florida but unfortunately it is strengthening and heading your way.
