LOL My day yesterday was a bust except I made a Japanese Twist Bag out of a dress!
I had a color coming at 3:30 & she cancelled, than a friend was coming over at 4:30 & she cancelled too??? So I asked hubby if he wanted to go to the movies to see Julie & Julia. He said yes so we go to get his registration paid on his van & they are packed. So we leave & go to pay the taxes on my truck & ta da something goes right! Now we are on the way to the movies have 45 minutes to get there & wants to stop & eat?? I'm like now?? He's yes & what about feeding the animals?? So it ended with words & no movie!! So I'm going to see it at 4:30 with Susan & her Mom. I really think he didn't want to be seen at a chick flick! LOL
Oh & I made another friendship bag!

Hello!

Wow I haven't posted all week??
Been busy at work, plus it's been too hot & I was just plain tired!!

I need another baby quilt for Wed. night. Susan told me about it awhile back. But I forgot?? So the shower is Wed. night at the computer shop.
I got the quilt top & quilted yesterday. All I have to do is put the binding on.
My back is killing me too! Sat with ice for a bit last night & before we went to Church this morning.

I watched Rescue Chef this morning, I've never seen it before. He made this chicken looked yummy! So I made the sauce after stopping at the store on the way home. yummy! Hubby didn't try the big sissy!! Oh I cut it way down cause I wasn't cooking 7 chickens!
Grilled Chicken Piri Piri
Danny Boome, Ltd 2008
Prep Time: 10 min Inactive Prep Time: 1 hr 10 min Cook Time: 40 min Level:
Easy Serves:
20 servings Ingredients
5 lemons, zested and juiced, plus 2 lemons sliced into wedges, for garnish
1 head garlic cloves, peeled
4 red peppers, seeded and roughly chopped
10 chili peppers like Fresno or serrano
4 cups fresh parsley leaves
3 tablespoons paprika
1 cup red wine vinegar
2 cups olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
7 whole chickens, each cut into 6 pieces
Directions
To a food processor add lemon zest, lemon juice, garlic, red pepper, chiles, parsley, paprika, red wine vinegar and oil. Process until it becomes a paste. Season with salt and pepper. Reserve 1 cup of the sauce as set aside for garnishing cooked chicken later.

Divide chicken pieces into 2 large resealable plastic bags. Divide the marinade into both bags and seal. Turn the chicken around in the bags to distribute the marinade. Place chicken in the refrigerator and let it marinate for at least 1 hour and up to 1 day.

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

Remove chicken from bags with tongs and drain well. Season with salt and pepper. Place on grill, skin side down first, and grill for about 15 minutes on each side turning occasionally until cooked through. (You might need to do it in batches if grill is not big enough.) Serve with lemon wedges and the reserved piri piri sauce.

So this is what I made

Turkey and Artichoke Stuffed Shells
Everyday Pasta Copyright 2007

1 (12-ounce) box jumbo pasta shells (recommended: Barilla)
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 large yellow onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 pound ground turkey (I used ground chicken)
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus 1/2 teaspoon
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus 1/4 teaspoon
1 (8 to 10-ounce) package frozen artichokes, thawed and coarsely chopped (left out)
1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
3/4 cup grated Parmesan
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
5 cups Arrabbiata Sauce or marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella (about 5 ounces)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the pasta and partially cook until tender but still very firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 4 to 5 minutes. Drain pasta.
Meanwhile, in a large heavy skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions and the garlic and cook until the onions are soft and starting to brown, about 3 minutes. Add the ground turkey, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is slightly golden and cooked through. Add the artichoke hearts and stir to combine. Remove from heat and let cool.

In a large bowl combine the cooled turkey mixture with the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, eggs, basil, parsley, and the remaining salt and pepper. Stir to combine.

To stuff the shells, cover the bottom of a 9 by 13 by 2-inch baking dish with 1 cup of Arrabbiata sauce. Take a shell in the palm of your hand and stuff it with a large spoonful of turkey mixture, about 2 tablespoons. Place the stuffed shell in the baking dish. Continue filling the shells until the baking dish is full, about 24 shells. (I had enough filling for 40 shells!) Drizzle the remaining Arrabbiata Sauce over the shells, top with the grated mozzarella.

Bake until the shells are warmed through and the cheese is beginning to brown, about 25 minutes.

Good Saturday Morning

LOL I ended up having company for dinner. I used the Golden Potato recipe on boneless chicken breasts yummmmmmyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

I made these last night to go with dinner. I had more of a batter than a dough so added more flour. Not as light as I wanted them to be?

Butter_Dipped Biscuit Squares

These are the easiest and best biscuits I've ever made. They are light and
buttery and go well with virtually any meal.

2 cups self-rising flour*
2 T. sugar
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter (no substitutes) , melted
All-purpose flour

In a bowl, combine the self-rising flour, sugar and milk; mix well. Turn onto a
floured surface; sprinkle with all-purpose flour. Pat dough to 1/2 inch
thickness. With a sharp knife dipped in flour, cut into 3 inch by 2 inch pieces.
Pour butter into an ungreased 13x9x2 baking pan. Dip one side of each piece into
melted butter. Carefully turn to coat. Bake, uncovered, at 450 for 10 minutes
or until golden brown. Yield: 15 biscuits.

*Editor's Note: As a substitute for each cup of self-rising flour, place 1-1/2
t. baking powder and 1/2 t. salt in a measuring cup. Add all-purpose flour to
measure 1 cup.

Mom gave me this Rag Quilt kit. She was going to make it for my Dad when he was so sick & always cold. But never got around to it. So I've been looking at it for awhile, put in the closet. She told me to make it for my hubby! So I got 5 rows done!! And YES I'M STILL IN MY PJ'S!!! LOL

Yippiee it's Friday!!

Only thing it's pouring down RAIN!
Sounds like elephants are running across the roof! LOL
Think it might be a good day to stay in my PJ's & cook, clean & sew!! Oh & maybe watch a Lifetime movie thru my eyelids!

I have had a sinus headache since Sunday afternoon?? I've been using my neti pot since Wed. night & it's getting better, less pounding in my forehead! So not much sewing has been going on here. I still haven't got Mom's third quilt on the frame:( Hopefully today!

I'm off to see what I can get into!

Good morning

I too have been slack in the blog world!!
But I did get 3 totes done for the craft show!!

I went to Food Lion yesterday & got 2 great deals. One is a pork roast for $3.97 was missed marked I'm sure. Than 2- 5lb. bags of potatoes for $4.00! Sweet!! So need to figure out which way I'm going to cook the roast!

Hubby is working!! Yippiee I found a paint job on Craig's list on Thursday. So he called & went to work Thursday. He's going to work all weekend too!!
The people he was working for have nothing ready said 2 to 3 weeks before anything is ready!

No news really on BIL's surgery?? Just that have a cage on it so he can't move it!

I have a haircut at 10 need to get my rear in gear!! LOL

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Oh my my my!!

Tango's world has been turned upside down again:( Hubby got laid off yesterday? Just as we were tying to get caught up on bills! I'm at the end of my stress rope!!
So I found out that the next town over from us is having a Founder's Day celebration on September 12 & are looking for Art's & Craft vendors. So I called my friend Page, she makes hair bows & we are going to do it!! It's a one day event set up is from 7 to 8 & it starts at 10 & ends at 4. A 10 by 10 spot is $35.00, I'm excited!!
Here's Tango kitty helping me LOL

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Well??!!! LOL

I went & signed up for the friendship bag swap!! I think it's sooooo cute!!
Going to have to make a few for gifts as well!!

Rachel Griffith put together this fabulous tutorial to get you started. You can use her design or come up with something else on your own. The finished size of your friendship bag should be a similar in size as the sample, i.e. 5″ high, 5.5″ wide, 3″ depth.

Sunday already??

Hubby & I went yard saling yesterday, looking for a cheap decent lawn mower. None were to be found. Also didn't buy anything else, tee hee I know shocking!! I saved my money to get some food!! Food Lion has turkey breast's for 99 cents a lb. So we got one it was marked $18 & change it was only $8 & change after!! Sweet, going to bake it after church for dinner. Than we can slice some for sandwiches & make turkey salad for hubby's lunches! We also got some steaks that were marked down & ground turkey too!

Than I looked on Craig's List & found a lawn mower for $50.00. It's a Craftsman mulcher 6.0. So we go look at it & it's got a minor gas leak? Hubby said let's offer him less so we did & got it for $35.00.
Loaded up my new green machine LOL I had to hide it from my little red machine didn't want her to get jealous! I'm going to have a friend look at her, I just don't want to give my little red power house up yet!! I got her dumpster diving about 3 years ago. She needed a new blade & tune up & she has been great!! She's got no bells or whistles that makes it easier to work on!
So Hubby got the front ditch cut plus the back, than I did the front so they don't throw us out of the neighborhood!! I can't do the ditch well it kills my back. They (city or county) put sewers in & dug them so deep & I'm afraid the mower is going to tip over!

Well I'm off to see what kind of trouble I can get into!

Good Saturday Morning

Sorry I haven't updated on BIL. They ended up not doing the surgery the other night. Why I don't know?? He's home & it's caged for now so he can't move it. Has a Dr. appt. for Tuesday & they will decide when to do the surgery then?? Crazy in my opinion! Anyway my SIL & her daughter went to stay with him to do what needs to be done. That would be his sister to him. And you know how men are they don't get details?? That's all I got!!

Then yesterday a dear sweet friend's husband was called home to the Lord. She could use a few Prayers!

I went to my friend Joker's yesterday to help him put some motorcycles up on Craig's List. But Craig's List was not behaving?? It would have been a wasted trip but I was kept busy by this!! LOL
